I think they're both 60 - 70 miles.

where will you depart? food/drink stops?
Leave from Peerless, food/drink stop about halfway. There's a general store at the foot of Pitcher Mountain.
Anyone up for a longish and hilly ride this Sunday? I'm thinking of either Hogback Mountain out through Hinsdale and back on Rte 9, or 12A to Alstead, over Pitcher Mountain, back through Hancock and Rte. 124. Probably a 1:00 pm depart.
Please to reply.
what overall distance are you planning? i may be available.
Today's D ride is cancelled due to weather. See you next Tuesday.
Please to reply.
The location of the weekly D ride has been changed. Starting next Tuesday, May 1, the ride will leave from the C&S Wholesale Grocers parking lot on OPTICAL AVENUE. Again, this is a change from the current location, the C&S headquarters on Route 9. Check the website for details.

Is there a route map on the site or perhaps on mapmyride.com for the Rt 12A time trial? I was hoping to ride the course earlier on Monday since I've never done it before. Thanks!
Please to reply.
Here's the 12A route, Steve. This will show you the location as well as an elevation profile of the course. There are a few spots of bad pavement so pre-riding it is a good idea for someone new to the course.

Thanks Darren. Pretty simple course I see. Not simple effort, though. Smokin' fast. Hope to see you Monday.

I wish I'd come out to join you, Frank. After riding in the rain on my last few MCC rides, I was a bit apprehensive. It ended up being a good night for a ride though. Oh well. Congrats on the new best time on the Route 32 course!

Hey everyone! I know there will be an A/B ride at Peerless this Sunday, but I would like to offer a ride from my venue in Marlow. I cannot say what level, distance, or time, but I can say we will have some great burgers after the ride! I have to be very careful riding and cannot crash due to a bone disorder in my hips and spine. I get very sore sometimes while riding, so the ride could be cut short. I have some great roads along a river with some light climbing and rolling terrain (with an ice c… Read More

Eric Hansmeier won the initial 2011 MCC HCTT. I managed a distant 2nd and the rest of the field was obliterated. OK it was just Eric and I. Old hands at doing TT's and fast rides on wet roads in the rain. It was great training, especially for me. I highly recommend the rest of the series. The regular TT's will begin on June 6th. We are going to try the Swanzey route on 32 starting at the airport at least for June. I'll poll the participants about July and August. Maybe we'll switch back… Read More

Congrats to Eric for the victory and Frank for the podium position! These will be lots of fun but we need to get through the rain that's been so ubiquitous during the last few weeks. I look forward to the next one on 6/13--mark you calendars everyone for the Route 63 climb out of Hinsdale.
Hill climb TT tonight-weather permitting. The Old Walpole climb postponed last week. Self-timed. Points awarded according to place and number of finishers. 5:30 PM Peerless parking lot.

I just checked out Old Walpole Road by car and it's pretty soaked--it's doesn't look particular safe so I'm bailing on tonight's hill climb TT again. I now have a better understanding for why the normal TT series doesn't begin until June...
Good turnout at the Peerless ride last night despite the weather including the entire "Flying Huckleberries" TT team and Lewis & Groesbeck making an "A" ride reminiscent of the old days at least for the fifteen minutes I was able to keep up. The "B" ride featured the reappearance of Mr Dave Stabler from winter hibernation. Maybe the season has finally begun.

Anyone interested in tackling a slightly hilly ride this Sunday? I can promise scenic vistas, beautiful climbs, and picturesque villages. I've got room for two in my car (we have to drive to the start of this one!) if anyone is up for this challenging little circuit. If your goal is to improve your climbing this year, this ride is the one for you! See the link below for more details. Drop me a line to reserve your spot in my car and to receive the required waiver form...

I thought about doing the Sunday Peerless ride but I've got this crazy idea that I'm going to do the legendary 6 Gap century on Memorial Day so I decided to do another "warm up" century instead. I took my cross bike down to Greenfield and rode along most of the Pioneer Valley from Greenfield down to South Hadley and then back up to Brattleboro. I finished with 104 miles and another 6 hours of saddle time. This will take me into some bigger hills as I try to get ready for both Crank … Read More

We "B's" had a fun, brisk ride tonight; started out by tuning-up the climbing muscles on Sullivan Rd, and then we had some awesome team work on the return leg, as each one of us were doing the ol' "30 seconds on the front" pulling rotation - made gettin' back to Keene go by in a flash !
I dig yer "fact finding" tests, Darren - cool & interesting fun ! ...and yes; I promise to have yer bike completed on schedule ! ; )

I decided that tonight would be a great opportunity to test out some theories about cycling. First, I wanted to know if the theory about weight impacting performance is true. Second, I wanted to know what happens when you increase rolling resistance. To get to the bottom of these mysteries, I convinced myself it would be a great idea to ride my Specialied Tri-cross (sporting 32mm tires!) during the Wednesday group rides. I wasn't satisfied with just riding my cross bike, however--I decided i… Read More

I've got a single-speed you can borrow for next week's A-ride if you want to test the derailleur theory. And if you're lucky you'll get a flat and you can test the quick release theory. I'll include the wrench for the wheel change.
Anyone planning to do the Wednesday evening ride tomorrow even if it rains?
Please to reply.
Nope, did mine tonight up here in the high wind and extreme fog, then looped to Keene and it was hot and sunny. Crazy weather up here! I will ride Thursday, if you or anyone wants to get out for a 40 mile leg stretching ride.
Yup, Paul - I love my cruiser ! The furry little thing is what would appear to be a raccoon tail with two eyes, called a "weasel"... it was attached to a motorized counter-weighted ball. It whips & rolls around; looks almost alive, and makes cats and dogs go batty ! You should see the looks it gets when I walk onto an airliner ! ; )

Whoo-hoo ! I did my first "club ride" of the season a la "California Style" ! Went to Peerless to see who might show up via my surfer's beach cruiser w/ secret weapons... alloy wheels, smoothies, & a 7-speed Nexus !
5 other riders & myself headed out to Hurricane Rd... sure, I pretty much expected to be dropped - no worries; that wasn't the point. It's all for the love of the ride, right ?! ; ) Perched upon my triple springer Brooks saddle, I persevered on my t(r…

Hey, I know it is a cold a drizzly day today (April 19th), but I was looking to get out and do some TT power interval work for about 1-1/2 hours. Is anyone else interested in riding later today around 5 pm in the Keene area? I usually do my PI work on a short but steady hill like route 9 from the underpass to Washington street exit for 8-10 repeats at a specific wattage and cadence, then I will cool down for the remaining time to ride at a very easy pace.
